  17. Absoft Announces Object-Oriented FORTRAN 77 for NEXTSTEP for Intel
  18.  
  19.  Absoft is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Object-Oriented
  20. FORTRAN 77 v3.2 for NEXTSTEP486 for Intel processors. The new compiler is 100%
  21. source compatible with Absoft Object-Oriented FORTRAN for NeXT's 68040 based
  22. computer systems, allowing application migration to the NEXTSTEP486
  23. environment with a simple recompilation of source code. Object-Oriented
  24. FORTRAN for NEXTSTEP for Intel processors combines Absoft's experience in
  25. developing optimizing compilers for other 32 bit Intel UNIX environments (SCO,
  26. SVR4, UnixWare) and our five years of experience with NEXTSTEP on the original
  27. NeXT hardware platform.  Major features of the new compiler are:

  29. o  Special Intel486/Pentium processor optimizations yield maximum performance
  30. from NEXTSTEP486 FORTRAN applications/libraries o  100% source compatible with
  31. Absoft Object-Oriented FORTRAN for 68040 based NEXTSTEP o  VAX/VMS, IBM/VS,
  32. Sun/Cray compatibility options aid in porting to the NEXTSTEP for Intel
  33. processors environment

  35. The compiler is fully ANSI Standard X3.9-1978 including all MIL-STD 1753
  36. extensions.  An Intel 486DX or Pentium processor and the NEXTSTEP 3.1
  37. Developer Release are required.  Part of Absoft's Multi-Platform Solution
  38. suite of tools, Absoft FORTRAN for Intel based NEXTSTEP provides source
  39. compatabilty with existing Absoft FORTRAN products for:

  41. o  Intel Unix platforms (SCO ODT, Interactive SVR4, UnixWare, etc.),

  43. o  DOS (32 bit extended),

  45. o  Windows NT for Intel486/Pentium, o  Macintosh,

  49. o  AIX IBM RS/6000. Regular retail price of Absoft

  51. o  Motorola OCS/BCS 88K platforms (D.G. AViiON, Motorola Delta, etc)

  54. single user/single CPU license. From now until September 1, 1993, registered
  55. users of Object-Oriented FORTRAN for 68040 based NEXTSTEP are eligible to
  56. purchase a copy of Absoft FORTRAN for NEXTSTEP486 for the introductory price
  57. of $495.00, a savings of up to $500.00.  Offer good for registered 68040
